The Recreation Ground and Village Hall Committee was first established in 1977, with Tom Ginty as chairman. However it took 5 years of dedicated fundraising and hard labour before the Village Hall and Recreation Ground were fully open for business in 1982.

Now the facilities are used by numerous groups from in and around the village of Fowlmere in addition to serving the original purpose of meeting the recreation needs of the village’s increased population.

The current management committee have secured an Awards for All Lottery Funding grant of £10,000, a South Cambs Community grant for £10,000 and a donation from Fowlmere Parish Council of £2,500. This has enabled significant enhancement and refurbishment of the entrance and toilet areas of the village hall, to ensure that the facilities remain fit for purpose for the next 26 years.
